Taking Action to #EndPeriodPoverty

On May 28, we relaunched our annual Menstrual Hygiene Awareness campaign, which ran through the month of June. This campaign is particularly important to us given the stigma that still exists around periods and the fact that one in 10 African girls misses school because of her period.

This year's theme was #EndPeriodPoverty, and we were able to provide 350 girls with menstrual hygiene kits worth about ₦525,000. The kits were funded through your donations and our partner organization: Water Support Charity. We also held educational Menstrual Hygiene Day events at two schools: LEA Primary School Area 1, Garki and Junior Secodnary School Gbessa, Kuje.

Many thanks to everyone that contributed to this campaign! Results from this year's survey with the girls can be found below. We'll continue to work with the girls to ensure their education carries on in this and other areas. If you'd like to get involved, please visit our donate page.
